A Vibrant, Tented Wedding at Tanglewood

One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to know the couples with whom I work while planning their dream weddings. I love to hear their back stories and thoroughly enjoy seeing their eyes light up (or hearing the joy in their voices on the phone) when they share how they first met, funny antics on first dates and when they first knew they were falling in love.

When Jen and Daryl called me to discuss planning their wedding in the Berkshires (their “happy place!”), I knew instantly that I wanted to work with them. Daryl’s family has a long history with the Berkshires, owning a home on one of our beautiful South County waterfronts. His fond memories of summering here…from lakeside living to museums, farmers’ markets and evening concerts at Tanglewood…were things he wanted to share with Jen as their relationship grew.

To Daryl’s delight, these activities were all things Jen loved, too, and began to embrace as her own. And because these two are so fond of the area, they wanted their guests to experience this special place. Flanking the big day, they held their welcome party at the Norman Rockwell Museum and their farewell brunch at the Berkshire Botanical Gardens. Jen and Daryl were now creating their own memories in the Berkshires and they knew Tanglewood was the place where they wanted to become husband and wife.

Each week, I looked forward to our scheduled calls as we navigated each detail in the design process. Beautiful lighting was a priority to Jen, and this is not a typical request (flowers, entertainment, food are usually the top three), so we had a lot of fun figuring out just how to make the Tent Club shine. Of course, the chuppah design, the flowers and the finishing touches (Six Depot coffee is special to Jen and Daryl, too, so you’ll see that scattered throughout) mattered, too, and I think you’ll appreciate how this all came together.

All in all, Jen and Daryl’s weekend was a truly special three-day affair fitting for a truly special couple. I hope you enjoy this glimpse into their Berkshires wedding, so perfectly captured by photographer Mark Spooner.
