When Jen and Daryl first called me to discuss planning their wedding in the Berkshires (their “happy place!”), I knew instantly that I wanted to work with them. Daryl’s family has a long history with the Berkshires, owning a home on one of our beautiful South County waterfronts. His fond memories of summering in the Berkshires…from lakeside living to museums, farmers’ markets and evening concerts at Tanglewood…were things he wanted to share with Jen as their relationship grew.
Nick and AnnMarie reached out in late December looking for full service planning and design for their June wedding. Residing in North Carolina, where Nick was finishing up business school at Duke University, they decided they needed help from a planning firm with experience planning destination weddings in the Berkshires. And I’m so glad they called, because they were one of the sweetest couples ever!
When I met with Jen and Katie, the recurring "theme" of their "dream wedding" was that their guests felt welcome and taken care of throughout the entire weekend. They wanted to create an intimate setting where they could spend the most important day of their lives with the most special people in their lives. And despite the chilly temps and light drizzle of the late September day, the warmth of this group was what stood out the most.
Whether we're in the Berkshires, Virginia, California or Texas, the barn wedding trend is one that's going to be here for awhile. And personally, I think that's fantastic! Because getting married at a barn venue doesn't necessarily mean mason jars and burlap (although sometimes those elements are perfect). Some of the most elegant affairs I've ever seen have taken place in a barn.
