9 Wedding Barns in the Berkshires
Whether you're in New England, Virginia, California or Texas, the barn wedding trend is one that's going to be here for awhile. And personally, I think that's fantastic! Because getting married at a barn venue doesn't necessarily mean mason jars and burlap (although sometimes those elements are perfect). Some of the most elegant affairs I've ever seen have taken place in a barn.
With the right designer, anything is possible. And though the same sentiment holds true no matter what style venue you've chosen, today we're just going to focus on barns in the Berkshires.
Just like every couple is different, every barn is different, too. Some will hold 200 guests, while others accommodate are more intimate 60. Some wedding barns cost upwards of $15,000 and still others will satisfy even the most modest budget.
No matter where you fall on the wedding budget scale...or what the overall vision for your day might be...I'm confident that we have the perfect barn venue for you.
Stonover Farm in Lenox is truly a magical wedding setting. Situated on 10 beautiful acres with a duck pond, the wedding couple has a choice of a 4-acre field for a tented wedding or a magnificent haybarn for a barn wedding. The hay barn can accommodate up to 200 for dinner and dancing. The field is large enough for any size tent, and the ceremony is typically held on the barn ramp, with guest seating on the lawn. The lawn by the duck pond is perfect for a post-ceremony, pre-dinner champagne or cocktail reception.
Gedney Farm is an ideal destination for a Berkshire wedding weekend. Located in the “Old Berkshire” village of New Marlboro, now a National Historic District, Gedney Farm is a complex of spectacular period architecture with gambrel slate and cedar roofs, and beautifully detailed dormers and cupolas. The property is comprised of two Normandy-style barns and surrounded by 37 acres of pastures and high open meadows. The former dairy barn, now houses 16 guest rooms and suites, all with private bath, many with granite fireplaces and large, tiled whirlpool tubs.
Across the courtyard from the Lodging Barn is the Event Barn, originally a horse barn, which has been renovated for use as a private event venue. The Event Barn features three levels inside. Each level opens up onto the other, the ground level spills out through large sliding glass doors onto garden and courtyard areas where guests can enjoy late afternoon cocktails and hors-d'oeuvres. Dinner and dancing take place inside the barn on the main and loft levels.
The Event Barn can accommodate up to 250 persons for a “sit down” wedding event with additional space for band and dancing; larger parties are easily accommodated in conjunction with a tent. Event space is fully equipped with AC and heat so that inclement weather and seasonal temperatures are easily managed.
This barn can comfortably host up to 60 people as a combined space for a seated dinner and a dance floor. Parties with more than 60 guests must rent a tent for the seated dinner. In this scenario, the barn is utilized for the bar, lounge and dancing. The barn can also serve as the rain location for the ceremony, when not being set up and utilized for the seated dinner.
The rustic simplicity of the Shaker farm and the timeless setting of the historic Village provide the perfect backdrop for your special day. The Bloom Barn is a blend of modern-rustic style (i.e. Chip and Joanna Gaines would love it here!). Jacob's Pillow has several barn-like spaces to choose from. Shown above is the Doris Duke Theatre. These are just a few of the barns we have available for weddings in the Berkshires. Some of the beautiful structures you'll see on a Sunday drive have been used for events in the past, but new owners haven't continued that business. Many times couples will come to us requesting that we design their event on a private property and we find ourselves having the barn space cleaned out and the event space set up by our skillful team!
