A Summer Wedding At Gedney Farm
As a destination wedding planner based in the Berkshires, 100% of my couples come here from outside the area. Many of them have ties here, whether it's a family summer home or a fond memory of attending a summer camp locally.
But other times, a couple will have simply heard of the Berkshires and then falls in love with the region after a short visit or two. And this was the case with Alexa and Brian. Alexa's family has a home in nearby Litchfield, Connecticut and the pair decided to take a couple of day trips to the Berkshires when they were visiting from their home in Washington DC.
They chose Gedney Farm as their venue because it was a beautiful, intimate space far away from the hustle and bustle of their city life. And they wanted a location where their friends and families (both sides Peruvian) would feel at ease...and be able to be boisterous all at once!
Though we had many phone calls leading up to the event, I first met Alexa and Brian about two months before their wedding when we had coffee at the Southfield Store in a charming little village of New Marlboro (which is a tiny little village of Great Barrington!). They, along with Alexa's mom, had done most of the planning themselves and were really looking for the help of a wedding expert to tie it all together. Their vendors had all been secured (and I was pretty excited about their selections...I never give up the chance to work with photographer Eric Limon!) and most of the details worked out, so we agreed to move forward with my Event Management package.
This was such a fun wedding to be a part of. The guests were very well behaved...and I say that with a chuckle! They all went straight up to the ceremony site at the knoll without being prodded (we were quite impressed...it's generally like herding cats!). But when the party got started, this quiet group suddenly became a CRAZY dancing (and singing) bunch!
Needless to say, a fun time was had by all. And to Brian and Alexa, we wish you MANY years of happiness!
