A Darling Spring Wedding at Stonover Farm in the Berkshires
Who doesn't just love a beautiful Spring wedding? Everything is fresh and new, the buds are turning into gorgeous blooms, there's a lovely fragrance in the air and we know that some amazing summertime fun is just around the corner! Personally, I also think this is when people are the most in love, which makes Anna and Benjie's wedding all the more romantic.
Now, I'm just going to say it. I'm not Jewish. But, gosh, I so often wish I was! There is just NOTHING more special than a Jewish wedding. All of the traditions, the symbolism and the truly sacred moments that are wrapped up in their wedding days are a pleasure to witness and an honor to be a part of...even as simply an onlooker.
Of course, there are the more mainstream components...the ones we see most often...a gorgeous chuppah, the ketubah signing, the breaking of the glass and the hora dance. My personal favorite is the circling...the part of the ceremony where the bride and groom walk in circles around each other seven times, symbolizing a wall of protection around their new family.
But dig in even deeper, and you'll witness the Tisch--the groom's reception--which is lively and full of singing. And later, the Bedeken--or the veiling of the bride. This is a sweet, emotional moment right in the middle of the boisterous singing and dancing, as the groom's male friends and family dance and sing him over to his bride, where he places the veil over her face in preparation for the ceremony. (Honestly, just writing about it gets me choked up.)
So when we had the chance to be a part of Anna and Benjie's wedding, which was both steeped in Jewish culture and OH SO MUCH FUN, we jumped at the chance!
Their Berkshires wedding at Stonover Farm featured a dream team of wedding professionals from the Berkshires, Boston, and the Albany, NY areas. Anna's mom did most of the planning, so we were brought in to execute all of her hard work and to act as a personal assistant to the bride. This is actually our least-popular package because most brides don't want to tackle the MANY details and hard work of putting together an entire wedding weekend. But this family was amazingly organized and had all their ducks in a row...which made our job easy and enjoyable!
